Pleasetake a look at the getting to Lombok topic in the top right of this forum. You fly to Lombok airport (25 min flight costs about $40), get a taxi to the harbour (1.5-2 hrs costs about $25), and a boat to Gili meno (20 mins on public ferry, costs about $1)
Re Safe travel from Gilis to Nusa Lembongan. Probably safer to fly back to Bali and then get a boat from there. Same companies (and other operators) but it's a shorter and more sheltered crossing. And if you've already booked but decide not to go because the weather looks too dodgy, you lose less money.

Thereseem to be many options to get to both islands from Lombok (either from Bangsal or Senggigi) but only early morning boats (0830) to return from the islands back to Lombok.
